Ethiopia Airlines – not a disaster, and on the whole somewhat nice. The Dreamliner (Boeing 787) was nice, although the interior configuration was more ‘budget’ than ‘nice’.
The flight was about 40% full, always a treat. After we cleared LAX airspace, the stew told us we could move about and sit anywhere we choose, so HECK YEAH, Beast Master Mary and I choose to sit in the front row of the center section. Slept 80% of the 10 hour flight.
Dublin Airport was a breeze, car rental from (insert Irish curse words here) SIXT car was not. Got that worked out, drove to Athlone, kitchens everywhere closed 30 minutes prior, so we walked about Athlone until we found an Indian Pizza Parlor that offered Fish & Chips. That was dinner (not poison) and back to the lovely and all-time favorite Shamrock Lodge where we nailed a substantial bar bill in less than 55 minutes (closing time, damn).
All in all a good day. What follows are a couple of pictures from the time at the Shamrock Lodge Pub.
God Bless and keep you all as well as he has the two of us, for the last 24 hours and for so many years.
Brian & Mary
Have fun you 2
