Day 2 : Lazy Day

[Written by brian & approved by mary]

Like the old Moody Blues song, Lazy Day, Somday (sic) afternoon, like to put your feet up watch TV

I did go for a bit of a stroll about Athlone around 7:30, as you can see here…

And again, just after

Just as I was starting to warm the camera up, the Missus gives me a text (8:02) local time that the breakfast bell is ringing.

Nothing is open in Ireland this early (early?) the morning, or at least not in the minor metropolis of Athlone, so I’m happy to hoof it back to the hotel for a cup and some much needed food. Not to say that last nights British Fish & Chips in Ireland from an East Indies restaurant specializing in American style pizza wasn’t special,…I’m simply hungry.

Breakfast was grand, and after we went to early morning mass (9:30? early?) at the beautiful Saints Peter and Paul cathedral. Pictures later.

Anyway, the approach to the Shamrock Lodge is quite lovely, even more so as the leaves are beginning to turn here. Can you guess which is the sunny side?

And lastly, a picture of the of the Shamrock Lodge Pub from the outside. The day one pint pictures were from the inside of here

Sadly, a good part of the day was spent with some work stuff, and gladly a fair part was napping with Mary the Great. We expect to be mobile tomorrow, but it’s almost 5:00 PM here, and everyone knows what five o’clock is shorthand for.

  1. Hmmmmm. This is all sounding good with the exception of the fine dining establishment where you had your Fish and Chips. Hoping you’ll have some better eats soon!
