May 2016
We have just this week entered ‘ordinary time’, leaving the many days of Lent and the Glory of Easter behind.
Hopefully we have, somewhat like Christ himself emerged reborn, renewed and re-energized.
If so, how are we to live ‘reborn’?
It has been said that “Living the paschal mystery means that we are faithful witnesses to the God within.”
Though it may seem inconsistent with our purpose here, “sometimes rather than giving witness by doing good works, we need to witness simply by appreciating ourselves and others for the wonderful gift of God’s presence in creation, in Jesus and in ourselves.”
To be grateful and to give thanks is a sign of humility, and when we are humble we will certainly be in God’s favor and in His love.
From this humility and gratitude, we will have an abundance of the most valuable treasure to offer others, including and especially the poor we’re here to serve.
That treasure is the truth that everything is a gift from God himself. Those we meet and serve should know they are worthy of our love and His love.
I pray the Lord grant each of us the grace to be grateful for all He has given us and that we are able to demonstrate our gratitude to all we meet and do so with loving generosity, Amen
