Day 03.5 (May 19 & 20th, 2022)

In Ireland it is said that the first day you stay somewhere, you are a guest, the second day, you are family, and last night surely proved that to be true.

Not only was it lovely to see Fintar, several of the employees also chatted with us. They always want to know what state one is from, where will we be traveling, and always with a tip on where to go and what to do.

For parts of the week (including last night), The Shamrock is not serving dinners in the Pub so after a few pints we went off to eat dinner. Returning to the Pub after dining and the night manager stops to speak with us, and buys us a round.

Then the food & beverage manager stops by with his son in the middle of a pub crawl and they pulll a chair up next to us and of course buy us a round as a prelude to lively conversation.

He finds out we are planning on going to Clifden, but are having a hard time finding lodging. He immediately grabs his phone, goes outside, returns 10 minutes later, very apologetic. He knows someone that owns one of the hotels in Clifden and after failing to reach that person he called the hotel directly and talked to the manager.

The outcome was not to our benefit, but the effort was certainly appreciated. More rounds were bought from then on, enabling the four of us to solve all the worlds problems, and maybe create a few more!

Needless to say, we had a great time at The Shamrock Lodge, were treated like royalty, and if we are lucky to travel here again, the Shamrock Lodge will be our first stop.

Brian here: That’s all the posting I’m up to tonight 😦

We’ll catch-up tomorrow and good night to everyone
