Sirach, Chapter 42: 15-17
A reading from the book of Sirach Now will I recall God’s works; what I have seen, I will describe. By the LORD’s word his works were brought into being; he accepts the one who does his will. As the shining sun is clear to all, so the glory of the LORD fills all his works; Yet even God’s holy ones must fail in recounting the wonders of the LORD, Though God has given his hosts the strength to stand firm before his glory. The word of the Lord
Reflection:
The reflection from last month closed with:
To fulfill our ministry, our work is that of an evangelist; our work is to help those in need… Our goal is to lead all to salvation, (by our) word, conduct and deed.
With last month’s thought in mind, we face the reality of the wisdom in today’s passage, that is:
Yet even God’s holy ones must fail in recounting the wonders of the LORD
So if we, as baptised holy ones, are doomed to fail why even try?
Because when we are truly doing the Lord’s work, striving to serve Him and His Purpose, we’re not alone nor doomed to failure.
As we heard in today’s scripture
…the glory of the LORD fills all his works
He encourages us – metaphorically – to open the door for Him and let His Glory, His Love and His Peace work the miracle of adding names to the faithful believers.
Never should we allow ourselves to be discouraged by failure or shortcomings as we always carry with us Christ’s message, the message of HOPE.
